Luke 16:13

No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.

Commentary

Jesus is making a plain distinction between what He desires and how the world acts. It is easy to serve money. It is easy to let our money or our desire for money tell us what to do. Have their been times when we’ve gotten a small blessing and squandered it, only to think to ourselves that we would have done better had we gotten much more. Not so. We were serving money then, and Jesus also says if we are trustworthy or untrustworthy with a little bit, it’ll be the same when we get a lot. Take control now – don’t hold out for more before you start obeying. Money makes you more of who you already are.
